Should be open in the sides and have a totally white background. Abreviations used in the illustrations must be explained in the legends in alphabetic order (see example below).

Tables and figures will only be published in colors, if the authors agree in paying for printing cost of the page in colors.

The manuscripts become property of Brazilian Journal of Cardiovascular Surgery – their reproduction not being allowed without consent by writing from the Editor. The material approved and published by Brazilian Journal of  Cardiovascular Surgery will not   returned to authors. Those not approved will systematically be returned.
For the reproduction of any material previously published or available in electronic midia (including tables, figures or photos), a letter should be attached to permission in writing by Editor or by copyright holder.

Duplicated Articles. The Vancouver Convention sets up that duplicated articles, in the same or in other language, specially in different countries, can be justifiable and even beneficial. So, articles published by Brazilians authors in scientific journals from other countries, may be accepted, if the Editor takes into consideration the relevance and the need. In a footnote on the first page of the second publication, he must inform the readers, researchers, that the article has been published wholly or partially and present the reference of the first publication. The notice should say “This article is based on study previously in (title of the journal with complete reference)”.

Limits for type of article. With the aim to rationalize the space of the journal and allow for a higher number of articles per issue, the criteria below mentioned for type of  publication should be observed. The electronic counting of words is to include the inicial page, abstract, references and figures legends. The titles have a limit o 100 characters (counting spaces) for Original Articles and 80 characters (counting spaces) for the remaining categories.
